GATESOL is the Georgia affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Inc. and a registered Georgia non-profit organization founded in 1981 for the purpose of:

Encouraging professional development, participation and leadership within the state of Georgia

Providing opportunities for study and research

Working cooperatively to improve all programs that seek to provide students with the opportunity to acquire English language skills and proficiency

Promoting understanding of the cultures of multilingual learners of English.
