Lindy Lopez-Butner Memorial
Grant -- Due Date: October 15th
The application period for the Lindy Lopez-Butner Memorial Grant is now open.
Lindy Lopez-Butner exemplified the high ideals of an unusually competent, sensitive, caring ESOL teacher who sacrificed her own time and comfort for the well-being of her students, especially the neediest ones. In her honor, Georgia TESOL has set up a memorial grant.
The purpose of this grant is to promote the professional development of a promising ESOL teacher who is a current member in good standing of Georgia TESOL and has a worthy plan or goal that will directly benefit ESOL students, but lacks the resources or materials to achieve his or her goal or project. The grant is offered on a yearly basis. The maximum amount of the grant is $1,000.
The GATESOL board encourages applications for the following awards:
Public Service Award -- Due Date: October 15th
Each year Georgia TESOL recognizes a community member who has preformed significant service to benefit English language learners and the international community in Georgia. The winner of the Public Service award is recognized at the annual conference with a plaque or gift and often gives a brief speech about his/her area of service.
Youth Public Service Award
This award is designed to recognize a young person who has given significant service to benefit English language learners and the international community in Georgia. The winner of the Youth Public Service Award is recognized at the annual conference with a certificate and a small check.
